Hello, and welcome to Industrial Commons: The Hagerstown Makerspace!

What is a Makerspace?

A makerspace, or hackerspace, is a community workspace that houses equipment and supplies suited for a variety of interests. It can consist of anything and everything, from 3D printers to carpentry tools! The principle behind it is the concept of “open-source hardware,” the idea being to provide the community with collective access to tools and equipment they would not typically be able to afford individually. It attracts amateur inventors, professional developers, and hobbyists alike: By doing so, the makerspace serves as a kind of technology incubator.
